Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Christopher Kanas

Dr. Christopher Kanas, aka Dr. C, graduated from the Pediatric Dentistry Certification program from Loma Linda University in 1999 and has enjoyed working with young patients for over 20 years. 

Outside of the office, Dr. C’s interests include music, writing, motorcycling, and traveling with his family. He is married and has two teenage children. His favorite motto is “The love you withhold is the pain that you carry.” by Emerson. His favorite Bible verse is John 14:27, “Go…and let not your heart be troubled.”

Dr. Sydney Smith

Dr. Sydney Smith

Dr. Smith grew up in Conyers, Georgia, part of the metro-Atlanta area. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and minor in Chemistry from Valdosta State University, where she was a member of the inaugural women’s VSU soccer team. She went on to attend dental school at the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. Dr. Smith is very excited to move to the area and join the iGrin team! She is committed to serving the younger patients in the community and providing positive dental experiences. 

In her free time, Dr. Smith enjoys traveling, cycling, hiking, cooking, watching Disney movies, or reading a good book. She is active in her church and enjoys serving locally as well as internationally. She has joined two dental mission teams to provide care to communities in Haiti and Romania and can’t wait to return to those areas in the future.

Dr. Melanie Richards

Dr. Melanie Richards is a graduate of Presbyterian College, The Medical University of South Carolina, and The University of Maryland College of Dental Surgery. She is a Board-Certified Diplomate of The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She has been practicing in pediatric dentistry since 1992. 

Dr. Richards is married to a wonderful man, Robert; has three children who are almost all out of the house and one precious granddaughter named Shelby. Dr. Richards loves animals and has plenty to keep her busy. She is a sucker for English Bulldogs, especially.
